Janna culminated her 2021 season in the JTNC 6th Challenge Cup. This tournament pitted the top junior boys and girls of NCGA (NorCal) and SCPGA (SoCal) in a Ryder Cup format.
Janna’s girl team mates include Dartmouth College bound Sophie Thai; JTNC record breaking season points leader Asterisk Tally; and Truckee California’s pride, Ryan Flynn.
On the first day, Janna teamed with Sophie in the 9-hole Fourball match against Kylie Chong and Frances Kim. This match resulted 1-Down for NorCal. SoCal’s lone birdie on the 5th hole was not matched by NorCal in the next four holes giving the point to SoCal.
The second match and still on first day was the 9-hole Foursome. Janna was still with Sophie against Kylie and Frances. Again, the result was the same, 1-Down for NorCal. Both teams were alternating pars and birdies until the 7th hole where NorCal was not able to match SoCal anymore. From there on, SoCal ran away with the point.
The next and final day was the Singles match. Janna was pitted against SoCal’s top, if not the country’s top golfer, Jasmine Koo. The result was a resounding 6 & 5 in favor of SoCal. Janna was not able to match Jasmine’s impressive six birdies.
At the conclusion of Janna’s matches, she said she was happy to be in the company of NorCal’s top junior golfers and very much proud to represent NCGA and compete against SoCal’s best.
At the end of the tournament, SoCal defeated NorCal, 14.50 - 9.50.
